Code of Conduct

for

ONTARIO GUIDERS and VOLUNTEERS

Girl Guides of Canada, Ontario Council is dedicated to protecting the dignity and physical and emotional well - being of our members. Guiding establishes an atmosphere where each person feels accepted, valued and respected.

Therefore:
Guiders will not, by words or actions, humiliate or subject to ridicule any girl or adult member.

Guiders will not yell or speak in a degrading manner to any girl or adult member.

Guiders will not disclose confidential information obtained through the course of their responsibilities except to Child Protection Authorities in cases of suspected child abuse.

Guiders will not physically, verbally, sexually or emotionally abuse a girl or adult member.

Guiders will not participate in devaluing the reputation, either personally or professionally, of another Guider or the organization.

Guiders will not discriminate against another individual in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code which includes discrimination based on race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sexual orientation, age, marital status or handicap.

Guiders will respect and abide by the laws of this Province and Country.

Breaking this Code of Conduct will provide grounds for an investigation that may result in the suspension or dismissal of the Guider.
